Amphitheatre Backpackers
Our hostel takes its name from a section of the Northern Drakensberg that is shaped like a natural amphitheatre. It is here that the famous Tugela Falls has its source, rising at Mont Aux Sources (3282 metres up) and then plunging down the 1km basalt wall, into Royal Natal National Park.
The Bergville Caravan Park is situated on the foothills of the Drakensberg and on the banks of the Tugela River. Some of the most picturesque hiking trails at Cathkin Park, Cathedral Peak, Champagne Castle, Oliviershoek, Royal National Park Mount Aux Sources and various historical monuments are within a radius of 55 kilometres. The Park has fully equipped chalets and Park Homes as well as caravan and camping sites. There is a trampoline, a swimming pool, tennis courts and a bowling green. Our boundary, the Tugela River is ideal for canoeing and fishing. The Habermann Family envisages it to be an ideal family get away resort affordable for all.

Tower of Pizza
Visit this famous landmark and experience traditional farmstyle hospitality in close proximity to all major attractions in the Amphitheatre valley, Northern Drakensberg. Artistic and off beat decor complement the tranquil and natural beauty of the area.
Other Italian foods are also available along with our famous wood burning oven pizzas, that are freshly made on order from our closely guarded family recipe.
Tower of Pizza is situated on a working grain farm in the Amphitheatre valley in the Northern Drakensberg.
Tower of Pizza has its origin in an unused grain silo, which with the addition of a traditional wood burning pizza oven became a pizzeria. This quickly became a popular meeting place for both the local people and tourists and has grown into a landmark in the area. It is even used as a halfway meeting point for people traveling between Durban and Johannesburg.

Mont-aux-Sources Hotel
Orion Mont-Aux-Sources is named after Mont-Aux-Sources, the highest peak in the world-famous Amphitheatre in the northern Drakensberg.
Measuring 3282 metres high, it was discovered in 1836 by French missionaries and christened Mont-Aux-Sources, or “mountain of springs”.
The mighty Tugela has its source here and plummets 2000 metres over the Mont-Aux-Sources plateau making it the second highest waterfall in the world.

Montusi Mountain Lodge
Montusi Mountain Lodge offers genuine hospitality in the tranquility of one of the most beautiful settings in South Africa. Montusi is the Anglicised version of the Zulu name “Mountain in the Mist”.
Until the 1990’s it was a farm which had degenerated into a wattle wasteland (the wattle is an exotic tree, brought in from Australia, which destroys local vegetation and water supplies). When owner Anthony Carte wrote to the then Minister of Water Affairs, Kadar Asmal, asking for job assistance to preserve and protect this water catchment area, he never imagined that the nation wide Working for Water scheme would emerge.
Each individual thatched garden suite is cosy with a lounge, fireplace, tea/coffee station with little fridge for fresh milk and your drinks, a TV, and panoramic views of the Drakensberg’s Amphitheatre, a World Heritage Site. Bathrooms with separate bath and shower. Large Bath Sheets. Homemade chocolates. Quite addictable!
Montusi offers excellent hiking, horse riding, trout fishing and even a flying trapeze. Test your skills in your 4×4 or simply do nothing and soak up the incredible panoramic views.
