Easby Guest Farm - Bergville

Situated in the tranquil surroundings of the Natal Midlands with a magnificent view of the majestic Drakensberg Mountains. Easby Guest Farm is in all respects a balm to the troubled soul. Easby House is more than a 100 years old, built before the Anglo Boer War. It was occupied by Gen. Louis Botha during that same war in 1900. Situated in the heart of the Drakensberg, it offers many scenic routes along which the avid historian can truly go back in time.

And if nature (rather than history) is your thing, Easby is the perfect place from which to explore the rest of the area. It is very centrally situated and is no more than half an hour's drive from most of the splendors that the Drakensberg has to offer.

The house itself is built on a piece of land 300 acres in size and offers bird watching, nature trails, a pool, table tennis, volley ball, badminton, bar (with poll table & darts), and much much more. Horse riding can also be arranged.

The AntBear Guest House - Giants Castle

The Antbear Guest House is situated in the foothills of the KwaZulu Natal Central Drakensberg. This guest house is an ideal place to base yourself while you discover the Drakensberg region of KwaZulu Natal South Africa. We invite you to spend time here and share some of our dream. We like to think that the Antbear is a place for feeding your soul and rekindling your spirit. Built in the 1940's and recently renovated the quaint and charming cottage puts its arms around you and reminds you that there are things more important than everyday life.

The Antbear Guest House is a thatched, whitewashed cottage built high on a natural platform overlooking the Bushmans River and Giants Castle. This cottage is a bit off the beaten track and is more of an insider tip than just another bed and breakfast. We cater for small intimate groups and never have more than 10 guests at a time. It's a laid back, lovingly cared for kind of place where you feel a sense of happiness and peace. Honeymoon stays turn into anniversary commemorations just as guests become friends. Even foreign tourists return for a second and third taste.

Plan for slow and decadent dinners by candlelight prepared by your hosts Andrew and Conny. Sometimes it's a Moroccan spread including a genuine Moroccan tagine prepared on wood coals or maybe it's a surprise of just how delightful Chinese food can be. Breakfast is served with freshly baked bread and scones and often it becomes a 2 hour affair. There is plenty to do in the area too. Walks in the Drakensberg mountains, visits to bushman paintings, horse trails though a private game reserve, canoe trips, canopy tours and the Midlands Meander to mention but a few. So if your looking for a place where art, beauty and time away are important then Antbear Guest House is worth a second look.

The Homestead - Geluksburg

The Village of Geluksburg was first conceived in 1908 but before it could be proclaimed the 1914-18 war forced its abandonment. The idea of a village was resurrected in the 1930's but the outbreak of the 1939-45 war again saw its abandonment.

The project finally took off in the 1980's and Geluksburg became unique as a private village in the centre of the beautiful Drakensberg area. Geluksburg is close to the famous " Lost Valley " of the Drakensberg which has its own place in the folklore of the Drakensberg, being the site of a " white tribe " which lived isolated from the rest of civilisation until just after the turn of the century.

Geluksburg is centrally placed for excursions to the historic Boer War Battlefields. Spioenkop Nature Reserve, where you will see Rhinos, Buffalos, Giraffe, Zebra, and Wilderbeest, the Amphitheatre , Cathedral Peak Valley, and the Champagne Castle Valley all with stunning scenic views and energetic or relaxing mountain walks.
