Didima Rock Art Centre
Didima Rock Art Centre - Cathedral Peak
Didima Rock Art Centre is located at Cathedral Peak Nature Reserve and was officially opened on 24 September 2003 by the then Minister of Environmental Affairs and Tourism, Minister Valli Moosa. It was constructed to celebrate the San of the uKhahlamba Drakensberg.
Rock Art Displays
There are three sections within the centre. The first section is a display hall, where visitors can read about social relations between San and other social groups, their general life ways and religious beliefs.
Audiovisual presentations
The second section is a preview room, where mythological stories dating back to 1873 are told. The last section is an auditorium where audiovisual shows are run by projecting three big screens on the rock face of a reconstructed cave-like structure. There is also a coffee shop as well as a craft centre, run by the community crafters. Didima Rock Art Centre is open daily between 08:00 and 16:00, closed between 13:00 and 14:00.
