PalmSwift B&B is in the picturesque village of Winterton, which is situated in the Central Drakensberg area. It is called the PalmSwift Guesthouse as there is an enormous palm at the entrance of the house in which these particular swifts nest. The first thing people comment on, on entering the property is the incredible number of trees and their amazing size. Although the garden does not have many flowering plants and shrubs at the moment, the greenery and shade provide an atmosphere of tranquility and the feeling of being out in the country

The house is large and has 3 bedrooms available at the moment. The Blue Room has 2 single beds, a small sitting room looking onto a section of the garden and its own bathroom with a bath, shower, toilet and basin. The Green Room has a queen bed and a small sitting room. It also has it s own outside entrance. The Peach room has 2 single beds and is spacious. The Green and Peach rooms share a bathroom that has a shower, toilet and basin. At present, none of the bedrooms have their own TV or radio. The rooms are colourful but simply and tastefully furnished.

Laundry can be done by arrangement. Braai ( barbeque ) facilities are available it you don t want to eat out, with crockery and cutlery available for your use. Or use the microwave or stove to warm a take-away. Being in the Central Drakensberg area we are perfectly situated for a variety of tourist sights, historical sights as well as sporting facilities. Spionkop Nature reserve and Dam, the Boer War Battlefields, museums, excellent golf courses, river rafting, off road karting, quad biking, hiking and many other facilities are all within 15 to 30 minutes from our guesthouse. There are also many other interesting drives and sights further away that provide interesting day-outings. These include sights and activities in the Northern Drakensberg and the Midlands of KwaZulu Natal.

The Berg House is situated 3 hours from Johannesburg and Durban. These self catering and B&B cottages are located on the Oliviershoek Pass, overlooking the “Amphitheatre”, high escarpment and “Little Drakensberg”. Our property is situated on 1600 acre’s with 7km’s of river frontage.

The cottages are comfortable, fully equipped, with open plan lounge/kitchen areas, 2 bathrooms in each, 4 bedrooms per unit, a log fire place in each with wood provided. These cottages are built from sandstone and thatch gathered from the property. Linen is provided on the bed. The cottages are serviced daily.

Numerous activities on site such as horse riding from 1..3 hours, hiking, 4×4 trails, mountain biking, birding, trout and yellowfish in dams and river, full moon night rides, golf at 2 courses nearby, houseboat rides, Royal Natal National park, Tugela Vaal Hydro electric Power Station.

The Ledges is a guest farm situated amongst the breathtaking mountains in the Northern Drakensburg with spectacular views of Cannibal Cave and Sugar Loaf and a river running just below the accommodation.

The Ledges caters for a variety of needs. The farmhouse and other self-catering cabins are fully equipped and furnished with antiques.

The farmhouse can accommodate seven to eight people and has a large veranda with a thatch lapa for braais, the other cabins can accommodate four and three people respectively. Our wooden bed and breakfast cabins can accommodate two people each and have en suite bathrooms.

The Swallow’s Nest is an attractive Guest House with a garden cottage set in landscaped gardens on the outskirts of Winterton village opposite the Country Club.

The Swallow’s Nest offers close proximity to the Central and Northern Drakensberg resorts.

Durban is a 2½ hour drive and Johannesburg 3½ hours It is an an ideal halfway stop when travelling to or from Durban.

Swallows Nest is fifteen minutes away from Spioenkop Dam, with its nature reserve featuring many different bird species and game, horse riding and water sports.

Tours can be arranged to the Tugela/Vaal Hydro Electric scheme on the Tugela River.

During day trips to the berg resorts, guests may take in the breathtaking scenery, hike in the mountains, make use of the three golf courses in the area, or cast for trout in the rivers or at the Cathedral Peak Trout Hatchery.
